What makes this volume stand out, however, is the author's lucid description of the poetic format, which he provides in both the Introduction and in the text accompanying each poem -- this book could be used as an a text for any "introduction to poetry" class. Of course the book can also be read simply for the beauty of the poems and photos themselves. I recommend it, particularly for those who, like myself, are not quite sure what makes a poem and need some help figuring this out.Full disclosure: Tom Reischel is my brother-in-law. But I would write this same review even if he were not.

Yes, this is my father’s book, however, I was given a copy and it is spectacular!! The pictures are amazing and the poetry as well. I love the author commentary on the type of poem it is and how you would make one yourself. I have 3 children and they all love this book. My youngest are mesmerized by the beautiful pictures! This is a must buy! I will be passing his books down from generation to generation.
This book was an inspiration encompassing the beauty and detail of nature as seen by picture and poetry. The author captures nature in its serenity. It makes me want to take time, enjoy life and smell the roses.
Tom Reischel’s book, Picture Poems book, by Outskirts Press, Inc. 2014 is a most enjoyable read because it combines lovely photographs of Minnesota nature scenes along with a matching poem that complements each photograph. In this book, you get 3 levels of information—photograph, poem, and the unique feature of offering examples and explanations of the different forms and variations that poetry can take. This book is an inspiration for anybody who wants to impact others through their art.

I love this book! It reflects the artistic passion and eye for beauty that is so much my brother Tom. It makes me look at the world around me in a more poetic light as well as teaches me more than I have ever imagined about poetry itself. I find myself paging through it often and wanting to share it with the youngsters around me. The pictures are magnificent and so creatively expressed by the word.
